Solid hardwood floors store an estimated 47% of their weight in carbon, we source 100% wind and solar power, and we reduce transportation by limiting our sourcing to a 150 mile radius of our facility. Additional considerations will apply to these calculations including product lifespan, the scale of repairs, and reuse.

Product Lifespan

Comparing a 100 year product to a 10 year product means you should multiply the emissions of the short-lived product by 10 to get the real value of the offset for using a longer-lived product.

Scale of Repairs

Consider how much of the product needs to be removed and completely replaced if there is damage to the flooring.

Adaptable Reuse

Can the product be easily reused after its life as a floor? If not, it likely to be landfilled or incinerated (which releases CO2 emissions).
