Steller Floors for Renovations - See our Recent Site Visit!

When you're renovating a space, you're probably looking to update the look and feel of your interiors, and make the space feel like your own. And, if you're planning on changing the flooring, Steller Floors are a great solution for both DIY and Professional installations.

However, in some renovations you might be concerned about whether your space is ready for solid hardwood floors

In the video below you can follow along as our team visited a historic renovation in Ridgway, PA where teammates Ben and Jane are transforming an old schoolhouse into multiple apartments. As you'll find, the key site preparations for a Steller Floor include:

1) A reasonably flat subfloor

In this schoolhouse, some subfloors are plywood while some are tile, and that's no problem. Generally speaking subfloors for any flooring product should be flat within 1/8' over 8-10' -- which is about the thickness of a quarter under a 4' level. There are a few spots in this space that might need to be remediated, and luckily with a Steller Floor, you can use simple levelling compound. With no nails or glue to worry about, remediating subfloors with a Steller Floor is easier than ever.

2) Climate control

Not every space is perfect for a hardwood floor, but modern HVAC makes most spaces that are occupied year-round ideal for humans and for hardwood floors. In this space, the modern HVAC system will keep the air temperature between 65 and 85 degrees F and between 35 and 50% RH.

And that's mostly it for site requirements!

In some cases, such as installations over concrete slabs, folks might consider a moisture barrier, and our knowledge hub has even more details about installing a Steller Floor if needed. Plus, our support team is always happy to meet with you to discuss any complexities of your particular project.
